The Walnut Horse is Featured here in the Safety Stand version, it is also available in a Bow Rocker version, please see below for ordering details. The walnut tree was first introduced by the Romans, who called it the nut of Jupiter, the chief of their Gods. Since the 16th century walnut has commanded a special affection with cabinet makers and furniture manufacturers on account of its beauty, strength and resilience. Sir Francis Bacon, philosopher and man of letters, declared it 'the best wood for tables, cupboards and desks'.The wood is imported farmed Black American Walnut. Although hard to carve, the wood is one of the favorites because it does not warp, shrink or swell when worked, and it polishes well. Of course its grain and color are exquisite as well.
